LAKE CITY, S.C. – The Pee Dee has long been known for its agriculture, textile, and medical industries, but more recently the region has been put on the map in regards to art – thanks to ArtFields.
Now in its sixth year, the annual art competition and festival has proven its worth, bringing artists and art-lovers from throughout the Southeast and around the nation to the small town of Lake City. But perhaps an overlooked benefit is ArtFields’ impact on the local art community.
That impact is life-changing, according to ArtFields volunteer Franklin Gamble, who proudly welcomed visitors in to view the exhibits at Jones-Carter Gallery on Sunday afternoon.
